Custom Garden Designs

My passion for garden design began in 1996 when I molded my own relatively ordinary yard into a garden oasis with year round color, texture, and depth.  By designing the garden with focal points at each window, it created the impression from the interior of a larger space by drawing the eye visually to the outdoor view.  My garden continues to serve as a showcase and has led to many referrals because it reflects my taste, talent and passion for gardening. I have included some pictures here which exhibit a cohesive plan with the attention to detail.

All of my designs include exceptionally diverse plantings for year-round interest and color as well as elegant features such as:

- arbors                                - topiaries
- trellises                              - gazing balls
- bird baths                         - hanging baskets
- bird houses                      - window boxes
- benches                             - decorative pots
- sculptures                        - wall art

Common to all my designs is my adherence to three basic design elements:

-          Simplicity

-          Symmetry

-          Structure

Artistically, the objective of my designs is to portray nature at its finest. The designs are stylish, thoughtful, innovative and functional, with an understanding of your taste and personal lifestyle.  I believe the garden is similar to a photographic montage, with depth, color and textures that change throughout the year. My designs incorporate trees and shrubs for structure, strength and permanence throughout the year. Plants are chosen to create dramatic contrasts in color, foliage, shapes and form.  Yet common in each garden is an aura of peace . . . a tranquil getaway or a beautiful space where guests can mingle among bright colors and vivid textures. While I have designed gardens with diverse themes, my designs tend toward:

-      Natural landscapes

-      Native, drought tolerant plants

-   English, cottage style themes

-   Tropical landscapes

-   Japanese-inspired themes

The garden’s hardscape features are also very important. A successful garden emphasizes the relationship between the house and garden through its compatible style and utility. The use of pathways made from pavers, flagstone or pea gravel provides space with which to travel as well as complimentary textures and lines.  Also, the use of natural river rock retaining walls serve to level a sloping plant bed and elevate space for the viewing from the interior.  Over the years, I have worked with others in the design and installation of hardscapes. If you desire to include in the design one or more of these hardscape features, I can arrange that for you.

Most important,  I believe there is nothing more rewarding than making my clients happy. I truly enjoy working with my clients to ensure their satisfaction. I am appreciative of their endorsements, which you can find by clicking here.  For more information, please contact me.
